How we work          Trip Planning Fee           Product & Pricing           Flight Options

How We Work

1. On making contact, we will have an initial discussion about your trip to determine exactly what sort of experience you want.

2. Uniquely New Zealand will then send you some basic thoughts, ideas and suggestions and a copy of our Terms and Conditions.

3. Once you decide to have Jillian and  Uniquely New Zealand become your personal travel agent, you will send us a signed copy of our Terms & Conditions along with the Trip-Planning Fee as described below.

4. We will continue to work with you to determine the most suitable itinerary, including pricing based on that itinerary. You will also be given a map of New Zealand,  information on traveling to New Zealand, suggested reading material (including some of our favorite New Zealand novels) and links to websites that will help you make final decisions.

5. When you are ready for us to make the booking arrangements, you will send Uniquely New Zealand further deposit as shown in our Terms and Conditions. We will then make your requested land arrangements and advise you once these are confirmed.

If Uniquely New Zealand are booking your flights to/from and within New Zealand the payment terms will be those of the airline you would like to fly with and usually require payment in full right away in order to confirm your air ticket.

6. Three weeks prior to your deparure,  Uniquely New Zealand will send you a full set of Travel Documents, which will include a complete itinerary containing confirmations, addresses and phone numbers.  We also include full descriptions and helpful hints along the way; vouchers for all things booked with us; an information guide, and airline tickets/confirmations if we have taken care of these for you.

And off you go… safe in the knowledge that when you arrive in New Zealand, you will have all the contact and support you want as you travel around.

Trip Planning fee

Uniquely New Zealand
charges a Trip Planning Fee to begin the consulting process. This fee is $300 per booking based on two people traveling, and $150 for each additional traveler. This fee gives you unlimited consulting and conversation time, until you decide on the travel arrangements you would like and we begin the booking process.

Once we start the booking process, this fee then becomes part of your overall cost of your trip, so essentially there is no additional charge to you. If you do not travel or do not make your final arrangements with Uniquely New Zealand, the fee is simply a consulting fee.

If you cannot travel when planned, the fee remains available to use for 12 months. So, if we start the planning process, but then you cannot travel, you have 12 months in which you can use this toward a future trip to New Zealand.

Once reservations are made and your arrangements are complete, the overall cost will not be any more than if you had booked everything directly yourself.  Imagine the time saving factor, the ease of putting the trip together and the lack of worry while you are traveling. Working with experts brings you complete peace of mind while you travel.

Flight Options

Uniquely New Zealand can book any of the airlines who fly to New Zealand from the U.S, although we tend to recommend our national carrier Air New Zealand, or Qantas Airways. Both airlines offer competitive fares along with a high standard of service and safety. Air New Zealand offer non-stop flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco or Vancouver to Auckland, New Zealand's gateway city; while Qantas offer non-stop flights to Auckland from Los Angeles on a daily basis.

As with all of our arrangements, we will find the best airline to suit your itinerary and travel preferences; and provide you with competitive fares and all the information you require.

A Maori Poi Dance.                  By: James Hermaia.

Story of Kapa Haka

The term Kapa haka (kapa meaning 'rank' or 'row' and haka a Maori dance) is commonly known as 'Maori Performing Arts' or the 'cultural dance' of Maori people. Kapa haka is an avenue for Maori people to express their heritage and cultural identity through song and dance.

It is said that Kapa haka dates back to pre-European times where it developed from all traditional forms of Maori pastimes; haka, mau rakau (Maori weaponry), poi (tiny ball attached to rope or string) and moteatea (traditional Maori songs). The significance of these everyday activitites were influential to the development of kapa haka.

A kapa haka performance involves choral singing, dance and movements associated in the hand-to-hand combat practiced by Maori in precolonial times, presented in a synchronisation of action, timing, posture, footwork and sound. The genre evolved out of a combination of European and Maori musical principles.
